Heinrich Jacoby #1

Heinrich Jacoby (1889–1964) is the author of "Beyond Musical and Unmusical" (1921) which questioned the categories people are slotted into when it comes to musical talent. Later, he went on to write and speak about the idea of "Giftedness" in general. He was a long-time collaborator of Elsa Gindler, and an inspiration for the work of Moshé Feldenkrais. Despite being influential on many arts and therapeutic practices and ideas, he is little known today.

This series of three presentations on Jacoby will begin with an exploration of his life – his beginnings in Frankfurt, the time he spent in Dresden and at Hellerau, his Berlin years, and finally, the decades he spent in Switzerland where he settled after 1933.
